Day One of a virtual conference on the future of our cities

The live part of the American Cities Rebuilding virtual conference has ended, but NJ Spotlight News will continue to post its talks and films over the coming days and weeks. The conference — taking place Oct. 14-16 and co-hosted by WNET, NJ Spotlight News and NJTV — examined the challenges and opportunities faced by cities in New Jersey and nationwide during this unprecedented time.

Ford Foundation president Darren Walker and Chase Consumer Bank CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett opened the conference with a conversation about economic justice and the tools of a “new urban economy.” Hari Sreenivasan, PBS NewsHour Weekend Anchor, led the discussion.
