Hospital staff share stories of what it was like to provide care during the spring coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey

The live part of the American Cities Rebuilding virtual conference has ended, but NJ Spotlight News will continue to post recordings of its discussions and films in the coming days and weeks. The conference — held Oct. 15-16 and hosted by WNET, NJTV and NJ Spotlight News — examined how cities in New Jersey and nationwide are faring during the COVID-19 pandemic and at a time of social unrest.

In this presentation, Dr. Shereef Elnahal, president and CEO of University Hospital in Newark, and hospital staff share their experiences of what it was like to run and work in New Jersey’s only level 1 trauma center during the COVID-19 outbreak this spring.
