A summer camp bonus — free eye exams and glasses

Nearly a dozen camps in NJ are being serviced by a mobile clinic

Camp Vacamas is among nearly a dozen summer camps in New Jersey where children are receiving free eye exams as well as free glasses as part of a joint effort between Jonas Philanthropies and NJ Vision to Learn. The goal is to help give all kids proper access to vision care, especially those from low-income communities.

“The pandemic has done a number to kids’ vision. Screen time has increased, tripled from the year before, and that has affected them tremendously,” said Giovanni Restrepo, Regional Manager, NJ Vision To Learn.
