Less than a year ago, advocates for legal sports betting in New Jersey celebrated a major victory in the U.S. Supreme Court. After a lengthy legal fight, the national sports gambling ban was overturned. Together with a 2013 law that legalized online gaming in the state, supporters say things were finally turning around for the state’s previously struggling gambling industry.
But a policy change by the Trump administration could kill the momentum. And in a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal says he sees the influence of a major Trump political donor. Things may be about to get litigious.
