New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District covers Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties, as well as parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Ocean. This is an open seat, with the retirement of Republican Rep. Frank LoBiando, who has represented the district since 1995. Political pundits give this district a good chance of switching to Democratic control.
Six candidates are vying for the seat. State Sen. Jeff Van Drew of Cape May Court House won the Democratic primary and Seth Grossman of Atlantic City won the Republican nod. There is a Libertarian candidate, John Ordille of Northfield. There are three independents: Steven Fenichel of Ocean City is running under the slogan “Time for Truth,” Anthony Parisi Sanchez of Vineland is running under the slogan “Cannot Be Bought” and William Benfer of Millville is using different slogans in each county.
