Former Pharmaceutical CEO Sets Sights on Senate Seat Held by Menendez

Bob Hugin reportedly tells GOP leaders he’s willing to spend $20 million of his own money on campaign against weakened Democrat

The recently retired CEO of a pharmaceutical company announced yesterday he wants to challenge Bob Menendez (D-NJ) for a Senate seat. And New Jersey Republicans think they have a formidable candidate in Bob Hugin. The former head of Celgene has told GOP leaders he is willing to spend $20 million of his own money on a campaign to unseat Menendez who, although he recently survived a trial on corruption charges, is considered to have been weakened by it.
