Legislative District 5

NJ Spotlight News | October 9, 2017 | Elections 2017

The 5th District encompasses 19 communities in Gloucester and Camden counties: Audubon, Audubon Park, Barrington, Bellmawr, Brooklawn, Camden, Deptford, Gloucester City, Haddon Heights, Harrison, Lawnside, Magnolia, Mantua, Mount Ephraim, Runnemede, Wenonah, Westville, Woodbury, and Woodlynne.

This is a safe Democratic district, with about 45 percent of registered voters identifying with the “blue” party, 14 percent Republican, and most of the rest unaffiliated.

Three Democrats represent the district and all are seeking re-election: Sen. Nilsa Cruz-Perez of Barrington, and Assembly members Arthur Barclay of Camden and Patricia Egan Jones of Barrington.

Running as Republicans are Keith Walker, a previous Assembly candidate from Camden, for Senate, and Kevin Ehret of Magnolia and Teresa L. Gordon of Mount Ephraim for Assembly.

Mohammad Kabir of Bellmawr is running for Senate as an independent, under the slogan “Challenge Promise Fix.”
