The Garden State’s Republican Party chairmen, representing all 21 of New Jersey’s counties, were unanimous in their support of Gov. Chris Christie’s bid for the GOP presidential nomination.
But now that Christie’s fallen short in his quest and dropped out of the race – and endorsed real-estate developer Donald Trump for the nomination – what’s New Jersey’s GOP delegation to do?
Eighteen of the 21 county party chairman gathered in New Brunswick recently. And, as Hudson County GOP Chairman Jose Arango told NJN News Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron, the next step was not at all clear-cut. There are supporters of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio among the county leaders – and complicating matters, perhaps, is the heavy concentration of Latinos in northeast New Jersey.
