With yesterday’s release of last year’s PARCC scores, one number stood out: the 193,367 tests that were not given. That’s more than 10 percent of all eligible tests in language arts and math, evidence of the big protest movement in many schools that saw scores of families sitting out the new exams. The state is not being more precise, saying it also includes students who were absent or had taken alternative tests in the figures for kids who didn’t participate.
