Healthcare Thought-Leader Describes Challenges to Improving Care

Brenner sees New Jersey’s expensive, inefficient system partly resulting from state’s wealth

Dr. Jeffrey Brenner gave a detailed critique of New Jersey’s healthcare delivery system during a recent NJ Spotlight conference on accountable care organizations and delivery system reform.

In this video of the February 28 keynote speech by Brenner, he lays out an alternative vision for the state’s healthcare future -- one in which more patients receive high-quality care -- by drawing on lessons learned in other states with less-expensive healthcare systems.

Brenner recently received a MacArthur Fellowship, one of the so-called “genius grants,” for his work improving coordination of care in Camden. He is the medical director for the Cooper Health System’s Urban Health Institute and executive director for the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers.
