New Jersey Democrats have recently been cozying up to Gov. Chris Christie, who holds a dramatic lead in the polls against his Democratic challenger, state Sen. Barbara Buono. Earlier this week, Democratic candidates for the state legislature were found to be advertising how many issues on which they agree with the Republican governor.

Yesterday, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Cory Booker told a Newark crowd that he wanted to give the “Guv some love.” Booker said he was grateful to Christie for working hard on issues they could agree upon and that their relationship shows “that when people can reach over . . . lines that divide and make ties that bind what can be accomplished together.”

What do you think of all this public goodwill between the governor and prominent Democrats?

  • It’s great because it shows that even though politicians and parties can disagree on some issues, they don’t have to be disagreeable. In New Jersey, we can still find ways to work together for the public’s benefit -- unlike Washington.

  • It’s all for show. The Democrats just want to ride Christie’s coattails due to his popularity with the public.

  • All of this support for one another in an election year just makes it hard to figure out where politicians stand on issues. I want them to clarify their differences, not mask them.

  • I don’t get it. Whatever happened to a loyal opposition? Why are these Democrats afraid to take the governor on?
