Most New Jersey high school graduates -- indeed 87 percent in 2010 -- are planning to continue their education in some sort of postsecondary setting, according to the state Department of Education.

Of 94,979 graduates in 2010, 80,717 planned to go to college or university. Another 1,915 were planning some other type of postsecondary education, while 5,133 were planning to get a job. The department listed 7,214 as “other” -- presumably meaning that they had no plans.
