Asian-owned businesses make up 8.7 percent of New Jersey’s companies, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That accounts for 67,758 businesses, 21,837 of which had paid employees. Revenues total nearly $30 billion.
The largest group of Asian business owners in the Garden State are Asian-Indians, with 24,804 companies. Chinese own 15,256 companies in New Jersey; Koreans, 13,610; Filipino’s, 5,990 companies; and Japanese, 1,523.
New Jersey’s Asian-owned businesses make up 4.4 percent of those in the country as a whole. The three states with a larger number of Asian-owned companies than New Jersey are California, New York and Texas.
