The non-profit Operation Shoebox New Jersey collects supplies and anything from food items to beanie babies in preparing care packages to send to U.S. troops stationed overseas.

The familiar items serve as welcome reminders of home for members of the military deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Rod Hirsch, Executive Director of Operation Shoebox New Jersey, says he continues to be inspired by the response from the troops who thank him personally.
