The Assembly tops the ticket in Tuesday’s primary

NThe state Assembly tops the ticket in this year’s primaries. It’s a relatively sleepy year with only a few competitive races.

One of the races of interest is the 25th Legislative District in Morris and Somerset Counties. With 12-term conservative legislator Michael Patrick Carroll retiring, three Republican candidates are jockeying to take the open seat.

The current Assemblymen in the 8th Legislative District, Joe Howarth and Ryan Peters are not running as a unified ticket. They’ve both chosen other running mates, so it’s likely an incumbent will lose their seat. The district, which encompasses parts of Atlantic, Camden, and Burlington Counties is also home to Sen. Dawn Addiego, who switched party affiliations from Republican to Democratic in January.

So far, Assembly candidates have raised about $12 million in total and have spent about half of that.

Polls are open Tuesday June 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
