Gov. Phil Murphy continues to warn residents that this will be a school year unlike any other as the state Department of Education marches confidently toward the first day of class. The latest national ranking lists New Jersey as the best public education system in the country for the second year in a row. More than two-thirds of all district reopening plans are approved. Just 35 plans, or less than two per county on average, are still waiting for the state’s stamp of approval.

Officials Wednesday reported 329 new positive test results, pushing the cumulative total to 192,595. There are 11 additional deaths. Statewide there have been 15,964 confirmed and likely fatalities caused by COVID-19.

In a historic moment for New Jersey, Fabiana Pierre-Louis was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the State Supreme Court. She becomes the first Black female to be seated on the state’s highest court.
