According to researchers at Johns Hopkins University, the United States hit another milestone in the coronavirus pandemic by surpassing 3 million cases of COVID-19. It happens one day after Gov. Phil Murphy issued a new order requiring masks outdoors when social distancing can’t be maintained. The World Health Organization reversed course on airborne transmission, acknowledging that droplets carrying the coronavirus can linger airborne indoors and that people spending long periods of time in crowds without proper ventilation risk being infected.

Thursday, New Jersey health officials reported 354 new positive tests. The statewide cumulative total is now 174,270. Another 28 deaths reported make a combined total of 15,451 confirmed and probable fatalities. The numbers are rising, but at a slower rate.
