This week marks the start of a new school year for several districts across the state. But with the troubles of a coronavirus pandemic causing confusion and concern, hundreds of remote, in-person and hybrid learning plans are still in limbo as the state Department of Education asks districts for revisions.

It’s a scaled down convention this week in Charlotte, North Carolina. Delegates for the Republican National Convention gathered for an in-person roll call Monday morning and renominated President Donald Trump for office.

Monday state leaders reported 225 new positive test results, moving the statewide cumulative total to 189,719. That’s with three new deaths and 15,949 confirmed and probable fatalities. The statewide rate of transmission dropped below the key benchmark of 1.0 at 0.85.
