NJ real estate market impacted by COVID-19

New Jersey’s real estate market was strong before the pandemic, but in March, there was a drop in new listings and pending sales. Still some realtors are getting inquiries from residents of New York City looking to move to the suburbs.

Essential workers at some of the country’s largest corporations planned a May Day strike Friday. It was organized by workers from Amazon, Whole Foods, Instacart and Target to protest COVID-19 policies at their companies. The organizers said they want better protections like hazard and sick pay, along with safety gear like masks and gloves. It’s unclear how many workers walked off the job.

The Paycheck Protection Program, or PPP, has come under a lot criticism for favoring large businesses over small companies. Changes were made in the program’s second funding round that began this week, and one New Jersey banker believes the second round has gone better for small companies.
