After one of his best friends was killed in Iraq, Jack Fanous started the GI Go Fund, a Newark-based nonprofit devoted to helping veterans find employment, housing, benefits and entrepreneurship.

The organization recently held its annual outreach event, which provides homeless veterans with access to health checkups from the Department of Veteran Affairs as well as haircuts and clothing for winter.
