As expected, the number of positive COVID-19 cases shot up over the weekend. On Monday the number of cases stands at 2,844 with 27 fatalities, according to the state Department of Health. The outbreak is now in all 21 counties.

The governor said Monday that it’s a relatively short-term sacrifice for a better long-term outcome.
