January was a great month for job hunters

Private companies added 291,000 new jobs in January, according to Roseland-based ADP and Moody’s Analytics. That was much stronger than expected.

A groundbreaking is expected later this year for a new cancer care pavilion in New Brunswick, and the project is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs.

Kenilworth-based Merck is splitting into two companies. The new company – which hasn’t yet been named – is expected to be headquartered in New Jersey.
