Despite its name, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system never reaches its Bergen County endpoint, creating so-called transit deserts in neighborhoods just outside the rail line’s reach. Commuters have waited at least a decade for an added extension. It came on Tuesday with a groundbreaking on the west side of Jersey City.
