How translational medicine could revolutionize health care in NJ

In the not-too-distant future, scientists say patients undergoing treatment for diseases like cancer or diabetes will know whether it will be effective before they begin their medical regimen.

A $33 million grant from the National Institute of Health to three New Jersey institutions is helping the state get one step closer to making this practice, called personalized — or translation medicine — a reality, taking medical breakthroughs from the bench to the bedside.
