GOP Senate candidate Rik Mehta on Booker, beginnings and Bellmawr

A political newcomer is looking to ride the convention wave and cause a major upset in New Jersey’s general election this fall by unseating incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, and breaking a nearly 50-year losing streak by putting a Republican in a New Jersey U.S. Senate seat. Rik Mehta is a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official and got the backing of 17 out of 21 Republican county organizations in the July primary. He tells Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron he’s ready to take on one of the most well-known politicians in New Jersey’s history.
