Currie Says It’s Unimaginable That Christie Didn’t Know About GWB Closures

Currie said that it is unimaginable that the GWB lane closures would happen and Christie would not know.

With the George Washington Bridge lane closure investigation ongoing, State Democratic Chair John Currie told NJTV News Managing Editor Mike Schneider that it is unimaginable that an incident of this magnitude would happen and Gov. Chris Christie did not know about it.

“This is serious business. We want to get to the truth and I hope everything works out here, but I am glad they are going forward with it,” Currie said about the investigation.

He said he believes that the lane closures were an act of active political retribution. To close the lanes without any explanation had to be because the mayor did not endorse Christie, Currie said.

“It’s just unimaginable that something of that magnitude would happen without people in the campaign or in the governor’s office not knowing about it,” Currie said.

Currie said that it is hard for him to believe that Christie did not know anything about the lane closures. He said that if it were him, he would feel disappointed that something so large could happen and he didn’t know.

“I would like to see the governor be honest about this and I would hope this investigation would get to the truth and I think the people of New Jersey deserve to hear the truth in this matter,” Currie said.
