A restricted summer season is certainly not going to help with the state’s revenue problem. Gov. Phil Murphy is relying on the help of the Legislature and their buy-in on a number of economic relief bills, including a controversial borrowing plan. It recently got strong, yet quiet, support from Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, who got a shout out from Murphy during Friday’s daily press briefing for posting the measure for a full vote in the Assembly June 4.
But Coughlin now faces an uphill task of convincing his partner in the Senate. Senior Correspondent David Cruz spoke with the speaker about the bumpy budget road ahead.
