Big Ten conference focuses on uplifting women in STEM

When you hear Big Ten most people think about college sports.

At the first-ever Academic Alliance Summit on Women in STEM, faculty and leaders from the Big Ten Academic Alliance universities met at Rutgers University to discuss how to increase the number of female undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The STEM summit runs through Saturday. Organizers say it’s the first part of a multi-year, multi-university initiative that originated at the Women’s College at Rutgers New Brunswick.
