On Wednesday, the 110-year-old Newark Museum unveiled its new name — The Newark Museum of Art.
Linda Harrison, CEO and director of the largest museum in the Garden State, says a new branding initiative has been in the works for the past year, after over 50% of people surveyed had a general lack of knowledge about the museum’s focus.
The Newark Museum of Art has an art collection ranking 12th in the country among museums, with more than 100,000 art objects and 200,000 science artifacts and specimens.
Harrison hopes the new name will attract new people through the museum’s doors.
