The Newark executive behind a ‘Made in America’ company

June 4, 2019 | Around NJ

Imagine riding a bike from Newark to Asbury Park. That’s approximately a 50 mile journey, and it’s what one of New Jersey’s executives does for fun!

All summer long, we’ll be talking with executives running New Jersey’s companies, large and small, in our new Summer Friday series. We’re finding out their journeys to success, the best career advice they’ve ever received and what they look for when hiring employees. We’re finding out what makes them tick and what they love about New Jersey.

In our first episode, we spoke with Mitch Cahn, the president of Newark-based Unionware, a manufacturing company that takes “Made in the USA” to heart. Unionware produces items like hats, bags and binders for groups that include the U.S. government and military. Cahn’s best advice is to learn from one’s failures, rather than their successes. When he’s not hard at work on his factory floor, you’ll find him biking to the shore.

Summer Fridays is a new digital series that aims to inspire through the stories of successful Jersey entrepreneurs.
