The Justice Department alleges that Menendez used his Senate office push the business interests of a Democratic donor and friend Salomon Melgen, the report says.

Part of the investigation included plane trips Menendez took in 2010 on Melgen’s private jet to the Dominican Republic. He paid Melgen $58,000 for those trips in 2013 when he was questioned about them.
