After being the host of Super Bowl XLVIII and Wrestlemania 29, MetLife Stadium is getting to host another sporting event.
Coming to the Meadowlands and for the first time to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford is the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, happening Saturday, April 26. The off-road motorcycle racing series, which tours around the country, will be making its first visit to MetLife Stadium and it will also be the first time in over 22 years that it returns to the New Jersey-New York metropolitan area.
The upcoming race at MetLife Stadium will be the penultimate race before the series crowns its new champion within it’s two divisions, the 450SX class and 250SX class championship.
Given this is the first visit to the Meadowlands, the stadium is set to feature a unique track for drivers to race on, as the entire schedule of venues has featured different track layouts of jumps and obstacles on artificial dirt.
According to the Monster Energy Super Cross website, there will be one New Jersey native in the field — Justin Barcia from Paterson.
The Supercross race follows just months after the Meadowlands hosted the NFL’s biggest game, the Super Bowl, in February and a year after it hosted WWE’s Wrestlemania.
