Trump Administration Scraps Plan to Revoke International Student Visas

Court hearing was getting underway regarding lawsuit to block the original order; Princeton and Rutgers had joined the suit

The Trump administration is dropping plans to revoke visas for international students if their college courses are held entirely online this fall. The revocation was seen as part of a larger effort to put pressure on schools to fully reopen despite the coronavirus pandemic. More than 200 colleges and universities — including Princeton and Rutgers — had backed a lawsuit to block the original order. New Jersey joined 16 other states in a separate suit.

The decision comes as a court hearing on the challenge was getting underway. Report by Joanna Gagis of NJTV News.
