My name is Clinton Calabrese and I am running for reelection in the 36th Legislative District. I have represented the district, which includes southeastern Bergen County as well as the City of Passaic, since February 2018. And although my time in office has been a short while, I have been very busy assisting our local communities and the State.
Throughout my first term, I have met with local and county organizations, elected officials, constituents, and businesses to understand their needs and concerns, and to represent these views in Trenton. I also joined the bipartisan New Jersey Legislative Manufacturing Caucus which seeks to support the modernization and revitalization of NJ’s manufacturing industry. Here we focus on supporting the development of training opportunities for students and workers to qualify for the high paying technical-skilled jobs in demand by the industry. This is of particular importance in my district because District 36 has the greatest number of manufacturing jobs in the state.
Throughout the last legislative session, I have spearheaded legislation targeted towards helping children, young adults, seniors, small businesses and the environment. I developed legislation to address school bus safety, to provide support to minors at risk of committing suicide, to provide nursing home residents additional rights, and to assist senior and low-income homeowners with loans to replace lead-contaminated water lines.
One of my priorities is encouraging economic growth through laws and policies that encourage entrepreneurship. Affordable and fair loans are critical for small businesses to grow and thrive; therefore, I’ve introduced legislation to protect small businesses from predatory lenders.
I have fought to protect the district’s environment and am proud to have earned one of only five incumbent endorsements of NJ’s Sierra Club as well as the endorsement of NJ’s Food and Water Watch.
For more information on the bills which I have sponsored or cosponsored please visit www.assemblydems.com. This site will also provide links to my social media pages where I share information regarding legislation, site visits throughout the district and information shared with my office.
I have spent my term in office working hard to focus on the issues and concerns of residents of all ages and backgrounds. I am proud of what I have achieved in a short time and I am asking for your support in November so that I can continue to represent the 36th District.
