Most recently, my son’s cub scout troop was invited to Normandy to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life to be able to be there with my children on Omaha Beach, on Utah Beach, and all the other locations, and have them witness the history that occurred there and why we’re so free today.”

Hello. My name is Jennifer Williams and I am the Republican State Assembly candidate in Legislative District 15, which includes parts of Mercer and Hunterdon Counties and my hometown of Trenton, NJ!

Our state is a special one and when everything is working right, the words “New Jersey” mean something and to me, they mean a state that values liberty, freedom, and opportunity.

As an American who happens to be transgender, I am always thankful to live in New Jersey. Our state has passed excellent non-discrimination laws with bipartisan support to help make sure that everyone has a fair shot to work hard, dream big and make the best life they can for themselves. We still have some things to work on, but as we do, we must never lose those liberties and freedoms that we already have.

My story may be similar to your story in some ways. I grew up in a working-class family in Trenton and my parents raised us to strive for a better chance at the American Dream and the boundless opportunities our country offers. My wife and I are working hard to raise our children to have those same dreams and opportunities that I am sure many of you have for the children in your life.

Sadly, today, many of those dreams and opportunities are being replaced by too many exit plans. From administration to administration, our state government hasn’t solved many of our past fiscal problems. That has to change and that is why I am running for the Assembly now - not later.

We get maybe one chance in a generation to really fix things, to create new solutions, to realize possibilities and leave future generations a legacy they can build on. We can say “enough!” and take charge of our destiny. But that is up to us.

We can reject the tribalism of the past and make New Jersey a thriving state once more. But we have to have a positive, can-do attitude. We have to work harder and sacrifice more. We have to believe in the goodness of each other and remember that we are all in this together.

I know we can end runaway taxation and be fair to our state workers. We can make New Jersey affordable for everyone. We can find balanced and fair affordable housing solutions. We can work together for criminal justice reforms and increase economic opportunities. And if I’m elected to our Assembly, I will work tirelessly to help ensure that the citizens of Trenton and surrounding communities have safe drinking water every day. Safe drinking water is a necessity for all New Jerseyans. And that should never be up for questioning.

I am seeking the vote of every voter, no matter if they are a Democrat, Republican, Independent or another party.

Please support me for Assembly and visit my website, to learn more. And if you live in the “Fighting 15th," I’d love to have your vote. Thank you, stay strong and stay “Jersey”. For you and for all of us.
