Community Foundation NJ

The Community Foundation of New Jersey
Established in 1979, the Community Foundation of New Jersey is an alliance of families, businesses and foundations that work together to create lasting differences in people's lives and communities.

Our mission is to connect donors to organizations, issues and communities important to them over time, and to provide ongoing leadership on issues critical to the health of New Jersey. We have a network of affiliates in Newark, Mercer, Monmouth and Morris Counties, and in South Jersey.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
Knight Foundation supports transformational ideas that promote quality journalism, advance media innovation, engage communities and foster the arts. We believe that democracy thrives when people and communities are informed and engaged.

Knight Foundation aims to help sustain democracy by leading journalism to its best possible future in the 21st century. We focus on funding Media Innovation, Journalistic Excellence, Freedom of Expression.

William Penn

The William Penn Foundation
The William Penn Foundation, founded in 1945 by Otto and Phoebe Haas, is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Greater Philadelphia region through efforts that close the achievement gap for low-income children, ensure a sustainable environment, foster creativity that enhances civic life, and advance philanthropy in the Philadelphia region. In partnership with others, the Foundation works to advance opportunity, ensure sustainability, and enable effective solutions.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

For nearly 40 years, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has nurtured leaders, ideas, and institutions which transcend self-interest and promote a sustainable future. We focus on issues critical to our home state of New Jersey, and organizations that have a direct and meaningful impact here.

We believe that philanthropy includes not only providing resources, but also connecting leaders across sectors, sharing expertise, and promoting collaboration to help build movements for change around important issues. We fund Arts, Education, Environment and Media initiatives that are innovative and promote collaboration and community-driven decision making.

Ethics in Journalism

Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation
Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation’s mission is to invest in the future of journalism by building the ethics, skills and opportunities needed to advance principled, probing news and information.

EEJF does so through contributions to media institutions and journalism schools nationwide, primarily in areas of investigative reporting, youth education, professional development, and special opportunities.

Healthcare Foundation

The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey
The mission of the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey is to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable, underserved populations in greater Newark and the Jewish Community of MetroWest NJ, elevate the quality of community healthcare, reduce disparities in access, and promote the infusion of compassion and humanism into our healthcare system.

The Foundation seeks to seed new initiatives, identify and expand existing healthcare programs, support appropriate clinical and medical research, promote medical education to positively impact its targeted communities, and engage in partnerships to foster its goals.

The Nicholson Foundation
The Nicholson Foundation was established by Marion G. and William B. Nicholson. It became active in 2002, in part because of a bequest to the Foundation from their daughter Martha Leigh.

The Nicholson Foundation is dedicated to addressing the complex needs of vulnerable populations in New Jersey’s urban and other underserved communities. We support efforts to improve the quality of health and human service delivery systems. Through partnerships with policymakers, stakeholders, and service providers, we seek to achieve transformative, sustainable systems reform.
