Watch key moments in second NJ governor’s debate

Murphy, Ciattarelli were asked about many hot-button issues

The final debate between the major party candidates for governor — Democratic incumbent Gov. Phil Murphy and Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli — took place Tuesday night.

Both candidates took turns answering questions about New Jersey’s budget, COVID-19, abortion and many hot-button topics important to voters. NJ PBS co-sponsored the event with WNYC, Gothamist and the Rowan Institute for Public Policy and Citizenship.

Only candidates who qualify for and receive public financing are required to participate in the debates. Other gubernatorial candidates and their picks for lieutenant governor are Madelyn Hoffman for governor with Heather Warburton for the Green Party, Gregg Mele with Eveline Brownstein for the Libertarian Party and Joanne Kuniansky with Vivian Sahner for the Socialist Workers Party.
