Election 2021: Legislative District 5

NJ Spotlight News | September 16, 2021 | NJ Decides 2021

The 5th District encompasses 19 communities in Gloucester and Camden counties: Audubon, Audubon Park, Barrington, Bellmawr, Brooklawn, Camden, Deptford, Gloucester City, Haddon Heights, Harrison, Lawnside, Magnolia, Mantua, Mount Ephraim, Runnemede, Wenonah, Westville, Woodbury and Woodlynne.

This is a safe Democratic district, with about 46% of registered voters identifying with the blue party; 16% are Republican, and most of the rest unaffiliated.

In the Senate contest, Clyde Cook, a Democrat-turned-Republican former Woodlynne councilman, is challenging incumbent Democrat Nilsa Cruz-Perez, who works for Camden County and lives in Barrington.

The Assembly race pits incumbent Democrats William Moen Jr. and William Spearman, both of Camden, against Sam DiMatteo, a lawyer from Barrington, and Sean Sepsey, an information technology administrator at the Clearview Regional School District from Mantua.
