Election 2021: Legislative District 3

The 3rd District encompasses 34 communities in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties: Alloway, Bridgton, Carneys Point, Clayton, Deerfield, East Greenwich, Elk, Elmer, Elsinboro, Franklin, Glassboro, Gloucester, Greenwich, Logan, Lower Alloways Creek, Mannington, National Park, Newfield, Oldmans, Paulsboro, Penns Grove, Pennsville, Pilesgrove, Pittsgrove, Quinton, Salem, South Harrison, Swedesboro, Upper Deerfield, Upper Pittsgrove, West Deptford, Woodbury Heights, Woodstown and Woolwich.

Voter registration is 36% Democratic and 26% Republican, with about 37% unaffiliated with either party.

In the Senate race, President Stephen Sweeney, a union leader from West Deptford and a Democrat, is facing Republican Edward Durr, a truck driver from Gloucester City and an unsuccessful 2019 Assembly candidate.

In the Assembly race, Democratic incumbents John Burzichelli, a former mayor of Paulsboro, and Adam Taliaferro, a pharmaceuticals policy analyst from Swedesboro, are facing Republican challengers Bethanne Patrick, a member of the Salem City Board of Education and Beth Sawyer, a realtor from Woolwich Township.
