Election 2021: Legislative District 20

NJ Spotlight News | September 17, 2021 | NJ Decides 2021

The 20th District covers four communities in Union County: Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle and Union.

This is the bluest district in New Jersey. Democrats make up 57% of those registered and just 9% are Republicans, with most of the rest unaffiliated.

Democrats hold all three seats in the Legislature and two incumbents are seeking re-election. All three Democratic candidates are unopposed.

Sen. Joseph P. Cryan is a Union County undersheriff. Incumbent Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, a municipal prosecutor from Elizabeth, is running with Reginald Atkins, former mayor of Roselle. Assemblyman Jamel Holley was unsuccessful in a primary bid to unseat Cryan and is not on the Assembly ballot.
