NJ Spotlight News | September 16, 2021 | NJ Decides 2021

The 12th District includes 14 communities in Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties: Allentown, Chesterfield, Englishtown, Jackson, Manalapan, Matawan, Millstone, New Hanover, North Hanover, Old Bridge, Plumsted, Roosevelt, Upper Freehold and Wrightstown.

Most registered voters are unaffiliated. Of those who have chosen a party, Republicans have a slight edge, 31% of registrants, compared with the Democrats’ 28%.

The Senate contest pits incumbent Republican Samuel Thompson of Old Bridge against Matawan Mayor Joe Altomonte, a Democrat.

Four candidates are seeking two Assembly seats. The incumbents are Republicans Robert Clifton, a Matawan resident who is director of governmental affairs for Comcast Cable, and Ronald Dancer of New Egypt. The Democratic challengers are Raya Arbiol, a U.S. Navy veteran and small business owner from Old Bridge, and Michael Palazzolla, a capital markets analyst from Jackson.
