Chat Box: Ciattarelli, Weinberg, McKoy on the budget

NJ Spotlight News | June 25, 2021 | Budget

New Jersey’s budget is the subject of Chat Box with David Cruz this week. First up with his perspective is Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli; the former Assemblyman criticizes the “travesty” of a lack of transparency in the budgetary process and he details the key items he believes are missing from the budget.

Senate Majority leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) talks about the “basically a good budget,” but explains why she was “a little bit upset, a little bit shocked” that “the state subsidy to NJ Transit was really reduced” in the spending plan. Brandon McKoy of the New Jersey Policy Perspective think tank reiterates concerns over a lack of transparency in construction of the budget and the “public’s inability to engage in this process in a sufficient and respectful way.”
