The 30th District encompasses 14 communities in Monmouth and Ocean counties: Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brielle, Farmingdale, Howell, Lake Como, Lakewood, Manasquan, Point Pleasant, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights and Wall.
More than a third of registered voters are Republicans, while 21% are Democrats, and most of the others are unaffiliated.
The Republican incumbents are all on the ballot. They are Sen. Robert Singer, former mayor of Lakewood, and Assemblymen Sean Kean, an attorney, and Edward H. Thomson, an actuary, both of Wall. There is a contest in the Assembly race, with Alter Eliezer Richter, a Lakewood man who was an unsuccessful GOP congressional primary candidate last year, challenging the incumbents.
The Democrats’ team features Dan Stinger of Howell for Senate, and Stephen Dobbins from Howell and Matt Filosa, a Monmouth University junior, for the Assembly.
