The hardest season: Photo essay on COVID-19 inside Holy Name hospital

Hope now comes with vaccines to counter the coronavirus. Pictures from the front line by photojournalist Jeff Rhodes remind us of the pandemic at its height

With COVID-19 vaccines now being distributed, New Jerseyans are allowing themselves to look forward to the possibilities of a post-pandemic life. Here, through the eyes of photojournalist Jeff Rhode, we look back at one of hardest times of 2020, when Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, Bergen County, was at the epicenter of the pandemic. A longtime photojournalist in New Jersey, Rhode has been the staff photographer at Holy Name for the last eight years. — NJ Spotlight News editors
