New Jersey residents could see for themselves there were fewer cars on the road during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. But how many fewer? Stats from the Turnpike Authority indicate that traffic dropped by about 38 million vehicles, comparing year-to-date numbers for June 30, 2020 (228.7 million vehicles) and June 30, 2019 (266.9 million). Dropoff on the Garden State Parkway was even steeper, about 48 million.
