Clothing-optional beaches in New Jersey

After being locked down for months, New Jersey’s Phase Two reopening gave residents a chance to celebrate their newfound freedom. Maybe that meant dining al fresco at a favorite restaurant. Perhaps it was a long-overdue trip to the barbershop or beauty salon (complete with highlights and tips). But if you’re really looking to break loose, how about a dip at Gunnison’s, New Jersey’s only legal clothing-optional beach? Part of the Sandy Hook National Recreational Area in Monmouth County, Gunnison Beach welcomes nude and less informal swimmers. Helpful signs indicate “Beyond This Point You May Encounter Nude Sunbathers,” to hold down on unwanted run-ins. Social-distancing regulations apply; no word on wearing masks while otherwise wearing nothing at all.
