First wave of funds from federal emergency stimulus package to go to NJ

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Community Planning and Development has awarded $82,202,575 in federal funding to the state of New Jersey, along with its counties and municipalities. This represents the first wave of billions in funding for New Jersey from the $2 trillion emergency-stimulus package Congress passed last week.

The award was announced yesterday by U.S. Sens. Bob Menendez, and Cory Booker in Bergen County, which has the highest number of cases (3,494) and deaths (75) in New Jersey. Bergen is receiving the largest single funding award in the state from the initial installment, over $8.3 million.
