Many New Jerseyans who receive food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program should have received an extra benefit payment yesterday (Sunday). Their benefits will also be higher in April to help address critical food needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of $70 million in extra NJ SNAP benefits will be provided over the next two months. The supplemental payments were included in the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
The March and April payments will go to approximately 205,000 households enrolled in NJ SNAP.
