Legislative District 7

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 7th District encompasses 17 communities in Burlington County: Beverly, Bordentown, Bordentown Township, Burlington, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton and Willingboro.

This district had split representation until the Republican senator retired in 2017, when Democrats took full control. Registration is now a lopsided 43% Democratic and 21% Republican.

Seeking re-election are Democratic incumbents Herb Conaway of Delanco and Carol Murphy of Mount Laurel.

Only one Republican filed, Peter Miller of Moorestown. There is an independent on the ballot as well, Kathleen Cooley of Burlington, who filed under the slogan True Blue Unbossed.
