Legislative District 40

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 40th District includes 15 communities in Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic counties: Allendale, Cedar Grove, Franklin Lakes, Ho-Ho-Kus, Little Falls, Midland Park, Pequannock, Pompton Lakes, Ridgewood, Riverdale, Totowa, Waldwick, Wayne, Woodland Park and Wyckoff.

Voter registration is one-quarter Democrat and nearly one-third Republican, with most other district voters unaffiliated.

The two incumbents, Assemblymen Kevin J. Rooney and Christopher P. DePhillips, both of Wyckoff, are seeking re-election.

Only one Democrat is on the November ballot, Maria Martini Cordonnier of Little Falls.
